It is made of Japanese zelkova. Zelkova is the tree which Japanese are most familiar with from the ancient times. Its Japanese name is Keyaki which originates in a Japanese old word ‘Keyakeki’ with a meaning of ‘outstanding’ and ‘exceptionally excellent’.
